Beacon Federal Credit Union was chartered as DuPont La Porte Federal Credit Union in March of 1949. The credit unions' goal is to create "Success through Service" by providing courteous, efficient, and sound financial services for its members. In 2005, we were granted a community charter and officially changed our name to Beacon Federal Credit Union in order to better reflect our varied membership base. The name "Beacon" underscores our commitment to look out for our members' financial well-being now, and in the future.
Over the past 59 years, the not-for-profit credit union has evolved into a full service, financial institution. Offering an array of member-focused products and services including savings, checking, a variety of loans, overdraft protection, Courtesy Pay, ATM & debit cards, MasterCard and VISA credit cards, VISA Check Card, traveler's checks and more. Each of the over 15,763 members are equal owners of the credit union; which currently has assets totaling over $89.9 million dollars. Once a member of the credit union, you are a member for life. Your family is also eligible to take advantage of the benefits of membership. Everyone who lives, works, worships, or attends school, in our newly designated field of membership, is eligible, and welcome, to join us! You will experience professional, friendly, service where everyone is treated like a part of our extended family. And, since we are locally owned and operated, all loan decisions are made here by professionals who not only know you, but care about your financial well-being!
The credit union currently has three locations. The main office is at 2901 Sens Road La Porte, TX and a branch office at 2812 N. Alexander Road Baytown, TX. Both offices are full service, not for profit, financial institutions offering ATM's, safe deposit boxes, loan officers on-site, member service personnel, tellers, and efficient, courteous service that sets us apart from other financial institutions. In 2006, we made Beacon FCU even more convenient by adding a new store front location in the Miramar Plaza in Seabrook, TX.
Community involvement is important to our management and staff. The credit union is involved in our local school districts, the La Porte, Baytown, and Hispanic Chambers of Commerce, the La Porte Livestock Show, the Baytown Youth Fair, the La Porte Police Officer's Association and much, much more.
